Sailing in Banderas Bay

Here's Sea Tern with her genoa partially rolled (to slow down enough for photographer), enjoying a nice afternoon sail.

Bowsprit

Note the anchor (painted white) in its strong metal support and the Reef Rite (NZ) roller furler for the genoa. It has a locking pall which prevents accidental unrolling of the jib.

Highfield lever

This lever can be used to detach the staysail stay when the staysail is not being used. Note staysail, made by Hasse, Port Townsend sails.

Electric anchor chain windlass

On the left, note the foot control pads.

Wheels for dinghy

These wheels have balloon tires. They can be left up and then put down when the dinghy is close to shore. The tires are 11 inches in diameter making hand hauling the dinghy easy even through soft sand.

BBQ on stern rail

This is the Force 10 barbie. It uses propane from one of the two 20 gallon tanks next to it.

Bow view

All ports are bronze, open and have screens. Two dorades also provide air below. Staysail is bagged on forestay and genoa is rolled on headstay. Mainsail cover stays on the boom with a zipper on top. Lazy jacks control the main when it is dropped into its cover. Main is fully battened with some roach and has two reefs.

Sea Tern from aft

Here is the Monitor windvane (without the wind paddle on it), two solar panels, the BBQ, EPIRB (in white sunbrella cover), stainless steel rails which extend to the opening gate and the stern Danforth anchor.

Aquapro dinghy

Sea Tern and dinghy

Sea Tern at dock in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. Dinghy is Aquapro RIB, aluminum floor (for less weight),10 ft long with 3 air chambers, orange sunbrella cover, oars and Johnson 15 HP outboard motor.

Port settee and folding table

Looking forward from the galley is the port settee and large table with fold down leaves on each side. A wine rack is under the table. Bookcase above the three cabinets, all above settee. When back cushion is removed, a bulkhead folds up to add about 6 inches of width to the settee when used as a bunk.

Starboard settee

Next to nav station, forward, is settee, then pantry. Bookcase above.

Galley

Force 10 stove with 3 burners and oven is below the removeable cover, left of sink and behind the safety bar. Refrig is left of that.

Nav station, quarter berth

Radar can be turned to be seen from the cockpit. The control unit for the WH autopilot is visible above the printer. Also note the SCS modem, extra compass and loran/fish finder.

Removeable security bars

Both hatches have bars which allow the hatches to be open all the time. No person can enter through them, but they can come off fast from the inside of the boat.

View from bow

Seen here are mainsail cover which stays on boom and zips over top of lowered mainsail, lazy jacks, weather cloths, whisker pole, extra diesel jerry jugs (covered) and hatch covers.

Life Raft

Under the sunbrella cover is a pod containing a 4 man life raft, which will need to be re-packed.

Cockpit

Here you can see the gimballed pilot seat, the dinghy wheels, the Force 10 BBQ (propane), compass, wheel and part of Monitor windvane, man overboard pole and solar panels.
